Should you get an Electric car?

forget the Turing test

the goal of AI isn’t to become self aware or be able to pass off as human

the goal of AI is to solve problems

you think AI is failing because it isn’t living up to some Terminator fantasy …

when in fact AI is succeeding because every day it can solve more problems …

there may be things like writing poetry in which AI will never match humans … but it will surpass humans in almost everything else very soon …

it will surpass humans in things that are more important …

because humans were never designed to do any of the things we do except eat, shit, fuck and stab each other in the back.

humans were never designed to drive cars, fly planes, perform open heart surgery and on and on … it is a miracle we are able to do those things …

on other hand it won’t be a miracle at all when AI does all of thee things better than we do … because it will be designed to do that …

an AI robot performing open heart surgery may not be self-aware, it may not be able to speak, it may not be able to do anything at all except perform open heart surgery … but it will do it better than any human in history and that’s what matters …

just like a chess computer can’t do anything except play chess … but it can play chess better than any human …

oh but that’s not real artificial intelligence !

WHO CARES ! ! ! ? ? ?

90% of jobs that exist today can be replaced by AI within 20 years. that’s what matters.

to people losing those jobs it will be little consolation that AI which replaced them isn’t self aware …

your insistence that AI will never be more than just voice and image recognition is like people who 100 years ago thought that feminism will never be more than about allowing women to vote or smoke cigarettes …

here, i think this particular bias may be affecting you:

we do not need to reach singularity in order for things i was talking about to materialize … all we need is for AI to be able to replace virtually all jobs. we don’t need AI to be able to create other more advanced AIs. if the latter happens then all the things we talked about will be the least of anybody’s problems and the AI will exterminate everything on 2 legs, starting with the Jews. this would be an entirely separate issue from the one i was talking about.

PS: so i watched the first movie of the night, which was a dumb movie i watched with dumb people.

now i will finish watching a smart movie i started watching yesterday but didn’t finish.

i think i told you i sometimes watch 2 movies in one day but it’s never two smart movies on the same night. it’s a dumb movie in the evening and then a smart movie later at night.

two smart movies on the same day would be too much for my brain.

I need to watch a nice regular movie after what I just saw.

This, though…

all we need is for AI to be able to replace virtually all jobs

Maybe I am suffering from normalcy bias.
I’ll tell you why I doubt.
There is a job that people get training for that could be automated: pharmacist.

It can’t be hard to select drugs, “ask” patients about allergic reactions, and dispense them. Yet things continue in the usual way.

And if AI came on stream (the problem solving kind, not the fantasy human conversation kind), then the economy would implode not explode.

Millions out of work shouting “UBI now!”…full-on Calhoun’s mouse utopia…non-workers in 50-storey blocks, human blobs rolling around…not breeding…watching Netflix and sportsball…then the elites win. They win bigly.

sorry LOL

you forget that most of the things everybody wants today are things that didn’t exist not too long ago.

200 years ago there were no cars, no TVs, no Xboxes or playstations, no smartphones or tablets, no refrigerators - basically nothing.

even when i was growing up in Soviet Union we didn’t have half of that stuff you Americans took for granted.

somehow we in USSR survived without air conditoners, dishwashwers, washing machines, microwaves, VCRs or mobile phones …

yet once you get used to these things suddenly they become necessities.

why do you assume this trend will suddenly stop ?

when more things are made automatically the result isn’t people working less - but people wanting more.

there is no limit to people’s wants. there isn’t too many billionaires who don’t wish they had more money.

as AI sends productivity through the roof regular people will start to expect things like private Jets …

rather than wait for this inevitability the Elites are creating gas shortages NOW while people are only using 10 times more energy than necessary rather than wait until they are using 1,000 times more energy than necessary ( as elites are doing themselves ) …

because unlike conservatives they understand that you should hit the brakes BEFORE slamming into a wall …

anyway i’m out again

TTYL

Yeah…but you need jobs to pay for that…
If AI is super-efficient, how will you buy it?

Tomorrow.

imagine we are having this conversation 200 years ago. everybody we know is working themselves to death in coal mines for less than a dollar a day and most can’t afford a pair of shoes with no holes in them.

then i give you a vision of the future ( year 2019 ) in which 90% of people produce nothing at all, everything is magically made in China, and kids / girls make millions on YouTube / OnlyFans and fly from US to Europe and back just to attend some party …

i’m sure you would tell me this is impossible. why would the Chinese work for free and give everything to these kids ?

and the answer is because there is a billion of them. their value is zero because of how many there are.

think of AI as Chinese on steroids. AI has the potential to turn an average person into what a celebrity is today in terms of the amount of resources they waste on air travel and so on. Elites can’t have that.

If everybody buys a private jumbo jet with a crew of robots to fly and serve drinks - how long will oil reserves last - a week ?

the reason conservatives are in denial about this is because they are engineered by the elites to play the role of some comical villain that is so hideous that there isn’t a single member of the audience ( liberals ) not wishing them the worst.

conservatives are not bright enough to understand this is their role just like liberals aren’t bright enough to understand that they are useful idiots.

at this point i have given up on both groups - they can’t be reached.

just like Al Qaeda or Taliban - they are just strategically created terrorist organizations the elites can use to shape the course of history.

to try to appeal to their senses would be pure insanity. they’re gone.

my goal isn’t to save the world - it is simply to be as aware as i can be.

most people find truth oppressive. i find lies oppressive. it’s most likely a disorder on the Autism spectrum.

Tesla cutting 10% of jobs and pausing hiring …

good thing we banned internal combustion engines …

in fairness Elon likes to periodically fire everybody just to keep things fresh so 10% job cuts means nothing for Tesla …

regardless, funny meme …

Yup. This will also push up the stock prices.

in the past it used to go up pretty much no matter what Elon did but maybe it’s a bit of a different climate now …

there it is !

government forces employers to cover commuting expenses for the employees … but ONLY if they use something other than a car to commute …

color me shocked …

first they cancel keystone pipeline …

then they refuse to buy oil from russia …

now they force private businesses to pay for it financially …

and private citizens to pay for it with their ass by having to ride a bike to work instead of driving there …

i may be a “conspiracy theorist” but at least all my predictions come true …

by the way this showed up as my local news ( i live in New Jersey halfway between NYC an Philadelphia ) … but rest assured they will be doing this in most other cities as well.

Local is an illusion - everything is global now - they simply decided that it’s appropriate to let the cities work out the details because each city has different layout. for example Tokyo is all subway while NYC is a mix of Subway and Bicycle and so on. It would be stupid to apply a one size fits all from Brussels or Paris - much smarter to let the cities decide.

Besides, if the laws came directly from WEF it would sort of be too obvious - much better look when your locally elected obese lesbian negroid politicians do the honors of passing and signing the laws …

Think tanks come up with strategies …

globalists at WEF, Bilderberg etc decide which of those strategies to go with …

Local governments implement variations of them while trying to make them look as if they were thought up on the ground to help the struggling peasant unable to afford gas …

but the real significance here is that this isn’t an attack on gasoline … it’s an attack on cars in general, including electric cars.

in the past a man had to work hard to be able to afford a woman worth fucking …

with pornhub there was a glimmer of hope that a man might be able to escape wage slavery …

but it is clear now that we’re looking at a future where instead of working to have a woman we will be working to have a car …

just like fuckable women today are for alphas only so cars will be in the future …

people who drive fancy cars today will drive regular cars tomorrow …

and people who drive regular cars now will be riding a bicycle …

and if you drive a regular car now and aren’t physically fit enough to ride a bicycle well they will have Euthanasia for you.

Hell, they might make you ride the damn bicycle to heat your house!
Too tired?..popsicle by morning light.

they’re not going to do this because that would increase your appetite.

they’re just going to move 20 mexicans in with you and their fucking will keep everybody warm.

and when it gets hot in summer i guess collect your urine and pour it over your head to use evaporation to cool off …

needless to say your water will be turned off to protect the environment.

i know they have projects like this but that’s for the time being when liberal arts students do publicity stunts to promote bicycles or get research money …

before any of this can go large scale they would have to consult real scientists which would put an end to this whole stationary bicycle power generation thing based on the fact that this power would ultimately have to come from calories in food and not from thin air …

UNLESS it is used for fitness … recall gyms were the first thing to get closed down … they may permanently close all gyms down and instead hand you out a power generating bicycle so instead of using gas to drive to gym to spin a bicycle there you spin a bicycle to generate power so that THEY can drive electric cars …

i mean they would rather cut your legs off and eat them but if they deem that they want to keep you under house arrest yet still have functioning legs then maybe they will go with the bicycle thing …

most likely they will force all gyms closed and ban all exercise equipment except power generating bicycles … but they won’t DEMAND that you purchase or use such a bicycle because it would simply be converting food energy into electricity and food energy is more expensive … about 20 times more expensive …

i been training religiously for almost 30 years now … contrary to popular belief that weight loss is all about diet the effect of exercise is much greater than people imagine … the main effect is not even the energy burned during exercise but the fact that your energy demands go up overtime as you train consistently for years versus somebody who never trained … elite athletes eat up to 10,000 calories a day with chiseled abs while couch potatoes can be obese at 4,000 calories a day … and government wants us too eat 1,500 calories a day ( i think they had 600 calories at Auschwitz ).

your government does NOT want you turning into Lance Armstrong on that power generating bicycle … they wouldn’t have enough food to feed you.

You ride or die in the cold.
You ride or lose access to lifestyle disease treatment (insulin etc.).

How many kilowatt-hours did you generate, comrade?
No, comrade, no discrimination at all.
The kWh requirements are adjusted for age, weight, race, sex, gender etc.
Comrade, three months below the standard merits means going to the back of the hospital line.

i think you’re taking the Matrix metaphor of turning a human being into an energizer battery cell too literally …

but sometimes things are done to boost morale so to speak which aren’t supposed to make sense …

for example when Mao Zedong came up with this genius idea:

or when Elon Musk had his workers bring their own toilet paper to work to save Tesla money

or when he pretended to sleep on the factory floor or pretended to live in a $35,000 house behind the factory ( while being the richest man in the world )

things like this aren’t supposed to make sense. they are done for effect.

it is possible that they will force us to pedal those fucking bikes as a show of solidarity with the cause even though it would be far more effective to generate power in almost any other way …

it would be the equivalent of digging up holes and then filling them back up in terms of being a complete waste but they might see it having psychological value for discipline and so on …

Yes. Soylent Green has the city inhabitants pedalling away.

this reminds me how about 15 years ago i was banned from Ars Technica forum for doing an analysis of World Trade Center collapse speed …

I didn’t know then that all these websites were controlled …

it’s sad though that most people are so stupid that even after they are told to their face that the “crisis” is engineered by the powers that be they still believe the government is losing sleep at night trying to solve it …

if you are to tell this to an average person they will call you a “conspiracy theorist” even as mainstream publications are writing articles on how they’re doing it …

of course the average person doesn’t read ArsTechnica … it’s a publication for smart people … who have already been brainwashed into the progressive agenda at their universities …

as Orwell said “some ideas are so wrong that only a very intelligent person can believe in them” …

Switching to renewables means not high gas prices but no gas…exceptions would be self-driving (really dispatcher-controlled) trucks on highways, the military and Very Important People.

The Ars crew would be pedalling electric bicycles, squashed in buses, or electric rickshaws while eating salted crickets. They shouldn’t celebrate that.
Like Schwab said, “You will own nothing and be happy”.

trucks will be autonomous on interstates and remote piloted drones in cities … that is to say the same truck will switch between Autonomous and Drone modes as required …

there is always a shortage of truck drivers because people want to come home at the end of the work day and truck drivers don’t get to do that …

let’s say a truck has to go from NY to LA … that’s 40 hours off driving … for normal people 40 hours is a work week … then another week to get back … who would want a job like this ?

now on the other hand what if an NY based drone operator gets the truck out of NY … the truck autonomously sails for 40 hours straight on empty interstates … and then LA based drone operator gets it to though the streets of LA to its destination.

all in all it would be let’s say 2 hours of drone operator time versus a week of truck driver’s time …

the drone operator could do this work from home and he would only deal with the one city he is familiar with …

and the truck will not stop for anything other than refueling … no downtime to sleep, eat, etc.

perhaps further efficiency can be realized by having the truck stop outside the city and wait until 2 AM or so so the drone operator doesn’t have to deal with traffic. he will simply work night shift and trucks will wait on the side of the road until drone operator makes it to work ( that is turns on his computer at home ).

so that is happening - the technology is here already for both autonomous and remote operation. the kinks will get ironed out.

as for private vehicles - they’re going the way of the dodo.

frankly trucking volume will go down as well, not because there will be any difficulty getting stuff from A to B but because you will need government’s permission to do it.

we may go back to cargo rail as well … it’s hard to say … trucks have a fatal flaw - tires - they have very high resistance, short life and can blow out at any time with potentially unpleasant consequences. not to mention constantly replacing tires fills up landfills unless you can figure out some use for recycled rubber like kids playgrounds or crossfit bumper plates.

i don’t know about be happy but the own nothing part is definitely happening.

we owned nothing in soviet union … were we happy ?

well to be honest it wasn’t any worse than it is here in US even though we literally had no food, no heat, nothing.

we didn’t have anything but we didn’t know what we were missing so it was all good.

of course anybody who learned about how people live in the west was ruined.

that was the mistake - communism in one country - was never going to work.

global communism will work.

the more accurate version of Klaus Schwab’s quote should be:

“YOU WILL OWN NOTHING AND YOU WILL NOT KNOW WHAT YOU’RE MISSING”

you won’t be happy but that’s just the nature of the human condition …

They’ll give the permission. You may not be able to buy it but they’ll give the permission…got to keep up the appearances, “the freest most blessed nation on earth”.

the more accurate version of Klaus Schwab’s quote should be:

“YOU WILL OWN NOTHING AND YOU WILL NOT KNOW WHAT YOU’RE MISSING”

You’ll be hopped up on Fentanyl etc., buying bath water from e-girls, whatever when not working. Maybe immersive VR will get better. Maybe happy isn’t the right word…too vigorous…let’s get calmer…you will be content, sedate even.
