i lived in Ukraine when it declared independence from Russia and one of the main selling points used to convince us that we want to be independent was the fertile land of Ukraine called “чернозём”
of course later due to corruption Ukraine became impoverished and I laughed at this idea that “чернозём” was going to save us …
but now that i think of it Ukraine was right to declare independence. Ukrainians live on the most fertile land in the world yet Stalin figured out a way to starve them to death anyway … and now Putin invaded Ukraine …
