do you remember when the most important thing was how fast you internet connection was ?
when was the last time you thought about upgrading your internet to something faster ?
reality is i have FIOS available where i am now and it would probably cost the same as the cable that i’m on now, but i simply cannot be bothered to switch.
because it gets to a point where you just have enough and how much doesn’t matter. my speed is about 400 mbit and i only need about 100 mbit to stream videos in 8K and there really aren’t any videos in 8K except a few demos that i already watched …
reality is i could downgrade to 100 mbit and barely notice a difference … but i can’t be bothered to do that either …
now MY car is NOT yet at that performance level where i can say it has enough and how much doesn’t matter … but it is logical to assume that eventually we will reach a point with car acceleration that we have reached with internet speeds where it simply won’t matter anymore …
now imagine if say 10 years ago you spent $250,000 to have faster internet than your neighbor - even thought it made absolutely no difference in actual use. wouldn’t you feel stupid about that today ?
Dmitry Klokov actually has lamented having spent a fuckload of money on fancy cars …
i have also regretted it as well …
All i’m saying is think into the future - how you will look back at this time. Will you think “wow i’m really glad i got a Turbo S and not just a regular Turbo which would have been 0.2 seconds slower” or will you be like that guy who used like 10 bitcoin to buy a Pizza that everybody is laughing at now ?
just something to think about …
and the other thing is flying … the road is such a fundamental and also arbitrary limitation that it is frankly insane trying to get better performance on the road when even the shittiest plane is faster from A to B than the fastest car because the plane goes in a straight line with no red lights or speed limits.
sure Andrew Tate says having 30 supercars is very important. but he also says that he will never sell GME because he has diamond hands. not everything Andrew Tate says makes sense or is true.
so what is important ? i have no idea. but i’m pretty sure that acceleration ( or track times ) isn’t it.
this is not a knock against the Plaid by the way. i just think that the whole acceleration thing is a pissing contest or a cock measuring contest.
i do understand the desire to win - it is natural. but should we make EVERYTHING into a competition ? and how much $$$ should we be willing to spend to win a meaningless contest ?
i used to do it myself - take steroids so i can bench more than other guys - in retrospect that was retarded. although i actually “won” that competition - in the end i didn’t get anything out of it.
pretty sure you won’t get much out of winning a drag race either.
as the saying goes - choose your battles wisely. it just don’t see this as a battle worth fighting.
just my subjective opinion.
feel free to disregard it.
