There will probably be some variance with regard to sperm quality from man to man; for instance, I am visibly less aged than most men my same age, however I am still starting to see some silver and notice some changes in energy level and so on.
At this point if we want children we have to accept compromises since we did not succeed at our peak. To be fair, this was very common for our generation, and for women also. Birth rates are in the toilet in general.
And yes - unfortunately - the statistics say that while 20-something women are the most fertile, they are also not having children, especially not the more intelligent / less dysgenic ones. The statistics say this latter group only has children around 30+. So yes, 29 is probably more realistic. The ones that would possibly do that for me are currently 23-24… I did have a brief thing last summer with a girl who was about 30 and still looked good but she was also a drug addict / Burning Man type of chick like some of the girls I dated back in the day. That’s a bit of an unstable type to be a mother.
I suppose the black pill is that we can not at this point really “have nice things” at our age but only a chance at something OK-ish. However, I agree that it’s better than nothing. The point being that everything for us would be a compromise from here on out and we have to be OK with that.
Note - all the old days friends I still keep in touch with are basically in the same situation, just having children at the onset of middle age[1]. It sucks but it’s not uncommon now.
[1] - a few started earlier (including one half-Jewish guy who briefly lived in Israel and met his wife there LOL) but I mostly didn’t keep in touch with them.

My personality is to assume the worst. So i would assume the sperm is as bad as the chronological age suggests regardless of what you look like.
But if your personality is to hope for the best nothing i can do to change that. If somebody believes they are going to heaven after they die there is nothing i can do to change that either.
And to be clear i don’t actually know one way or the other either with respect to sperm or heaven, but i always assume the worst.
There is probably a way to test sperm quality but it doesn’t fundamentally change the situation. The sooner you have kids the better the odds are of it working out on a biological level.
Again this comes down to personality. Some people think too far ahead so they’re always depressed. Others believe they can always fix things later no matter how far gone they already are. This is not really a function of intelligence - but more a question of neurotransmitter balance, or maybe ideology.
Democrats think we shouldn’t worry about the great replacement until whites are literally being slaughtered in the streets like in Haiti. Republicans think we shouldn’t worry about damage to environment until the whole planet looks like India. Personally i think it is never too early to start worrying but that’s also why i am always depressed.
