this is the Analysis. i reviewed the movie here:
do not read further if you haven’t seen the movie ( spoilers ).
i like how in the movie it is explained that “rape is not a crime against a woman - it is a property crime against the husband”
i know it was said to dog whistle to feminists about the evils of patriarchy but really if you think about it - it’s true. the husband loses more when his wife is raped than does the wife. a woman can have sex with an infinite number of men and remain a woman. but as soon as somebody has sex with your wife you no longer have a wife. thus you the husband are the real victim of your wife being raped.
all Marguerite had to do is not tell anybody it happened and life could go on as usual … but of course Marguerite decided to make an issue out of it for Feminism, because “all men are rapist” or something.
also her homely looking BFF was right to rat on her. her BFF has to sleep every day with an old man ( her husband ) and never complain about it, while Marguerite makes a huge deal out of being “raped” by somebody they both agreed is handsome and charming, and who Marguerite clearly had a crush on and certainly preferred romantically to her own husband.
furthermore only Jacques actually kisses Marguerite and tells her that he loves her whereas Jean has sex with her only to try to produce a son.
when Jean learns of the rape he insists on fucking Marguerite even though she doesn’t want to. which begs the question - what is even rape ?
the women enjoy sex with Jacques more than than they enjoy sex with their own husbands. their husbands do not ask them whether they are “in the mood” or not - they just demand sex. from that perspective it is really the husbands that rape their wives and not Jacques.
so the movie is clearly asking that question. the movie shows Jacques not as a villain but as a victim of the same system that Marguerite is victim of.
the movie doesn’t blame Jacques - it blames the patriarchy.
the other thing the movie blames is the church. when the Priest suggests that Jacques should be tried by the Church he mentions that basically all priests are rapists - this is a common attack on the Church by the Jews who of course run Hollywood. everybody knows of course that it is the Hollywood Jews themselves ( like Harvey Weinstein ) who are the biggest rapists.
so nothing new here - Hollywood Jews making fun of White People, their history and their religion.
the other point that keeps coming up in the movie is the belief that if a couple can’t conceive it is because the woman isn’t having an orgasm. in other words men marry women against the woman’s will, then demand that women orgasm during sex ( which of course they can’t, since they aren’t into their husbands ) and if a child is not conceived it is then woman’s fault for not orgasming. the funniest part of that is when the Priest in court says “this is just science”
it was again supposed to be an attack on Patriarchy and the Church but ironically the movie came out during the Pandemic when we were all told that “this is just the science” that you must “stay the fuck home” and wear a mask alone on an empty beach, right before you get arrested for being outside.
so this attack on Patriarchy and Chruch IMO kind of backfired and ended up being an attack on Science ( TM ) which is of course sacred to Liberals because Liberals, through their control of Academia get to define what “Science” is.
ultimately i respect the movie because it shows things as being messy. nothing is cut and dried. Marguerite’s father is a traitor, but never does anything wrong. Jean is the hero, yet all he does is murder people, rape his wife and beat his horses. Jacques is the sick bastard yet he’s the only one who actually loves Marguerite. Pierre is the villain yet he keeps everybody around him happy. Marguerite is the victim, yet she is pretty much responsible for all the problems. King is the idiot yet he is the only one who doesn’t make mistakes. and so on.
i also think it is interesting the director ( Ridley Scott ) was in his 80s when he shot this movie ( he is 86 now, and still making movies ).
