Subframe

here is Tesla Model Y rear subframe:

and here is Mercedes EQS:

aside from the fact that EQS subframe is cast aluminum and Model Y is stamped steel observe the size of the round rubber vibration isolating mounts on the two frames. The ones on Tesla are significantly smaller to further save cost.

Rubber: $2,500 per ton

Aluminum: $3,000 per ton

Steel: $1,500 per ton

considering also that casting is more expensive than stamping and that Model Y is 1,200 lbs lighter than EQS we can assume the EQS subframe costs about 3X as much to make as the Model Y subframe.

keep in mind also this subframe sits on the bottom of the car and gets sprayed by water anytime it is wet. steel rusts. aluminum doesn’t. Tesla frame is painted black in an attempt to slow down the rusting but you can already see the rust forming. which is OK though because Tesla is disposable junk anyway ( all EVs are to be honest ).

now granted, the Model Y is half the price of EQS but Tesla fuckboys will tell you that those are good things. that this is evidence of Elon’s genius that he is able to make cars for so much less !

but reality is Tesla doesn’t even make that subframe. it’s made for them by a third party in Canada.

the actual reason Tesla is cheaper and lighter than Mercedes is the same why Toyota Yaris is cheaper and lighter than Lexus LS. because it’s a fucking tin can.

Tesla at its core is an ultra cheap economy car that is camouflaged to appear as a luxury sports car but dig deep enough and you will see what it actually is.

it is SHIT.

granted, EQS is also shit - you shouldn’t buy any kind of EV - but at least you can see the difference between Mercedes quality and Tesla “quality”

if you want an actual quality car buy a Combustion Lexus or Mercedes. Porsche and BMW are honorable mentions here because BMW quality is a bit sketchy while Porsche maintenance costs are outrageous. Still, i would recommend any of those over a Tesla.

Get a Lexus if you can. Quality, Reliability and Service are all world class. Personally though i just never found a Lexus i would want to drive, but i got my parents a Lexus because they are less discerning than i am.

word of advice: when shopping ignore all the marketing and all the hype and look for things they do not want you to see.

in case of cars i always look for videos showing the underbody of a car. i also remember two dingbats laughing at me at the dealership when i was crawling on the floor looking at the underside of cars. but the joke is on them because what i saw horrified me and they probably bought that garbage.

i also watch videos of cars getting repaired not because i want to know how to repair cars - but because i want to see the level of design, engineering and quality of the car AS IT ACTUALLY IS not as the marketing hype wants you to believe.

i no longer watch teardown videos like the ones Munro makes because those are often secretly sponsored by the carmaker and the guy doing the teardown will inject “his opinion” about how awesome the engineering is etc. a video from an actual mechanic is a lot less likely to be biased.

it’s the good old seen vs not seen.

ignore what is seen. focus on what is not seen.

but be careful - like chess you must see more moves ahead than your opponent - for example the chinkonese have learned that Americans will take off amplifier cover to look at components inside - so they make sure the inside of an amp looks fancy - but it’s FAKE

inside a chinese amp aluminum heatsinks are painted to look like copper and japanese capacitors are EMPTY INSIDE

so yeah at the end of the day to be honest you will always need me to tell you what is quality and what is garbage but this subframe here was a low hanging fruit.

i got all the images from eBay parts listings simply by searching for terms such as “Model Y rear Subframe” or “EQS Rear Subframe”

eBay has images of almost all car parts making it very easy to compare the engineering of different cars without relying on PAID OFF car reviewers …

once again - never judge something based on information that they have carefully curated for you - only judge things based on information they did not want you to see

a car’s exterior, it’s wheels, door handles, it’s HP and torque figures, its 0-60 times etc. are all nothing more than marketing devices. they do not reflect the actual quality of the car.

that subframe right there is where you see the actual quality ( or lack thereof ).

gotta give Tesla frauds credit where it is due though - they actually convinced people that Tesla was a premium product

i remember one clown comparing Tesla to Givenchy saying it was a boutique quality product worth a massive premium

but when i took a ride in a Tesla uber it felt cheaper than a Toyota because it IS cheaper ( more cheaply made )

even funnier is how Tesla Frauds try to act shocked when they see five Teslas next to each other in a Walmart parking lot as if Tesla isn’t an economy car for Pajeets. these frauds try to act like it is unbelievable that such quality is now actually attainable.

honestly these scumfucks are on the same level as Jews crying about how they are victims of Palestinians while stealing Palestinian land - they make me sick to my stomach
