decent action / drama that is fairly original
psychologically a light viewing by my standards but heavier than the typical action film
conversely the action is pretty light by blockbuster standards but there is some
there is no graphic nudity and the violence is not excessive … i think the R rating comes mainly from the moral implications of the film …
in a typical PG-13 movie there are good guys and bad guys and the good guys win … in “Nightcrawler” not so much … hence the R rating …
i can recommend Nightcrawler as general purpose entertainment - it is nothing special but it is neither painfully boring like some “smart” films nor is it embarrassingly dumb like some “action” movies …
Nightcrawler felt fairly original to me …
also there wasn’t a lot of cringe in it …
it didn’t feel like it was trying too hard …
for all these reasons i’m giving it 4 stars
