Kajillionaire ( 2020 )

4.5 stars

messed up movie

just the way i like it

could have been even better

but i’ll take it

it starts out as a comedy …

but gradually turns serious …

and is ultimately about how dysfunctional families produce dysfunctional children …

the main difference between “Kajillionaire” and “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” is that it’s told from the perspective of the daughter, not the father. and it’s not a science fiction or horror movie.

but otherwise it’s really not that far off.

for me “kajillionaire” was equally as disturbing as “the killing of a sacred deer” but that’s because i’m not a parent nor ever plan to be one … so for me “the killing of a sacred deer” was more funny than disturbing …

“kajillionaire” is yet another movie seeking to hammer some nails into the coffin of the institution of family, like most R rated movies these days …

i welcome this because i have had it with conservatives and their fambly crap …

really enjoying movies by lesbian directors lately … i expect Movielens to eventually pick up on this …

Looks interesting…so Lolita & Kajillionaire before my Korean detective movies…

you seem mostly concerned with your relationships with your spouse and kids

i don’t have those so for me it’s more about my relationship with my parents

“deer” is about one’s relationship with one’s spouse and kids

kajillionaire is about one’s relationship with their parents

so just because i liked it doesn’t mean you will

but it isn’t very long anyway

you seem mostly concerned with your relationships with your spouse and kids

Yes. After age 10, my younger sister was their favourite, and I became the stuff you scraped off your shoe so…my focus is on my own family.

Though my parents are getting older…

Back on track…I still want to try Kajillionaire. Loloita 1st, Kaj 2nd, and then my Korean mysteries.
