JBL tech note on Mass Break Point in CD is WRONG!

this JBL paper titled “Characteristics of high frequency compression drivers”

https://jblpro.com/es/site_elements/tech-note-characteristics-of-high-frequency-compression-drivers

is WRONG !

this whole “mass break point” is bullshit. the formula for it is even more bullshit.

i can’t believe this BS. the formula is completely fake. it takes in motor force factor ( BL^2 / Re ) and moving mass ( MMS ) and puts out a frequency. a frequency can only be calculated from things like speed of sound and wavelength which in turn can only be calculated from dimensions and the formula doesn’t take any of this as input. it is TOTALLY FAKE AND BULLSHIT FORMULA.

and “mass break point” itself is totally fake and bullshit. there is no explanation anywhere on the internet what it is - because it isn’t real ! it only applies as stated to the JBL drivers mentioned in the paper

JBL claims all compression drivers have this “substantially the same” mass break point but newer and better drivers do not have it, at least not in the way the paper says.

the take home point is - don’t believe everything you read just because it comes from a “reputable” source and looks scientific. it is sometimes wrong ( as in that ProSoundWeb article ) and sometimes PURE BULLSHIT like here.

Told you should have opened up your own speaker company 20 years ago

but i never understood life before reading Robert Greene and following Gary PUA on X

i didn’t understand that life is war

my older sister was a literal actual hippie back in Ukraine and that’s how i was raised

that life is some kind of a Disneyland trip and you’re just here to enjoy the scenery

just be a good person, be nice to people, be yourself etc … LOL

maybe that worked in USSR where life was mainly a matter of not getting into trouble …

under Capitalism you’re supposed to actually take initiative and i never had that in me …

regardless, I think you have a very deep understanding of the sound and speaker tech - it would be stupid to waste that talent and silly not to capitalize on it

This is what I told him on NOSTR but he thought no one would buy his creations. I would, but I admit I don’t know what kind of a market size there is for specialized audio equipment at this point.
