Florida Housing Market Trends

this short article from 2 weeks ago seems pretty good

to be honest with you i wasn’t really researching the subject AT ALL because i wasn’t looking for an investment property but for a place to live

but @OldFriendSaysHello scared me when he alerted me to the fact that Florida real estate market was collapsing, so i had to look into it …

what seems to be happening is that people are trying to sell their homes and can’t but refuse to lower prices, so inventory is going up SIGNIFICANTLY but prices aren’t necessarily going down

they only went down about 3% from a year ago - this isn’t significant enough of a decline for me to try to wait for anything especially as the housing market slump isn’t isolated to Florida - the high interest rates are hitting every state.

i will continue researching but it seems that the money printing during pandemic that was designed to keep stocks from tanking has caused home values to skyrocket but now that the spigot has been turned off nobody can sell anything because there is no money in the system …

Florida was affected more than others because that’s where everybody rushed to buy homes during the pandemic but other states affected too …

since i don’t just have to buy a home in Florida but also sell in New Jersey it mostly balances out so there isn’t really anything to gain by waiting …

and life is short anyway, but i still want to do some reading first because i literally haven’t done any until now …
