Fiber One Chewy Bars - Game Changer?

i tested 3 kinds of Fiber One chocolate flavor bars today ( all from the same Amazon order ) but these are the ones i have re-ordered a few extra packs for:

this is exactly what i was looking at the whole time. these are different from the other granola bars i have tried before:

oddly enough the description is accurate in both cases. Fiber One is chewy while Nature Valley is crunchy - these aren’t just marketing terms - they really describe both products accurately.

the problem is Nature Valley is so crunchy it hurts to eat and as you bite them they EXPLODE and send shrapnel flying across the room - no joke ! you will have parts of them everywhere - it can’t be helped !

by contrast the Chewy Fiber one doesn’t self-destruct when you bite it and doesn’t try to slice your gums open - it also is a much richer taste - chocolate - whereas Nature Valley is just sugary.

and you actually feel like you’re eating real food with these - you can CHEW the oats - this is different from Quest protein cookies that just dissolve in your mouth with nothing left …

i can get all my protein from Core Power Bottle - what i want from the bar is something to chew on - and these Fiber One seem perfect for that.

so i ordered 3 more 10-packs for now and might order more tomorrow. no rush as they have free next day shipping.

if only i discovered these sooner i could have skipped almost everything else that i have purchased like SEVEN AND A HALF POUNDS of pistachios ( 5 X 1.5 lb bags ) LOL - WTF was i thinking ? i will now have to give some of these away - you can’t return food items to Amazon.

i have a personality flaw where i over-prepare for everything. realistically even if i ONLY ate pistachios and nothing else i bought enough for WEEKS due to how calorie dense they are. frankly i didn’t even check how many calories are in them because i know the answer is TOO MANY.

what happened is Pistachios were my original idea because they worked for me before, so i ordered a bunch of them - then i got other ideas like beef jerky or dried figs - and oredred those - then after a few such steps i finally discovered these Fiber One Chewy Bars after i already purchased enough snacks to eat for a month and i only need about 2 days worth of food considering i can always buy more snacks at 7-11 or Vitamin Shoppe or buy real food at Publix or even just go to Chipotle or something.

basically i over-prepared by a factor of 10X at least, but i pretty much always do that. it’s the same as how i got an RTX 4090 laptop to do some light browsing on.

the good news is reality finally started getting through to me.

for example i was planning to also order some roasted cashews but realized that i will have to go through about 20 pounds of other snacks i already purchased first … and decided not to order the cashews.

and to be honest i was only able to do that because i was full from all the Fiber One bars i was trying ( i had about half a dozen across 3 varieties of bars ) and the thought of eating greasy roasted cashes became nauseating …

even so, for me this is an accomplishment … i am the type of person who haven’t had my phone battery run down below 85% in years because i always be like what if i will need a phone charge so i am always charging even though it’s already almost full …

i had a friend who was the opposite - he never filled up his car with gas because he was too cheap to pay for gas so his tank was always almost empty - in fact my Jew father is like that too - always keeps gas tank at almost completely empty and never puts more than $20 of gas in …

oh well - after the trip i will do the math to figure out how much of the unused snacks i will be able to consume myself before they expire and give away the rest.

may order a few more packs of these Fiber One Chewy Bars but that’s it - i am done buying all other snacks - way too much already.

and because i already have a source of fiber i will probably skip the whole cereal and milk from supermarket in Florida. Fiber One Chewy Bars obviate the need for Fiber One Cereal.

i will just get Water, Juice and Sausage in the supermarket.

wow these are filling.

i can’t even think about eating now.

very nice.

stark contrast to Quest protein cookies where no matter how many of them i had an hour later i wanted more.

quest is basically just sugar, even though they call it “fiber” - Galen from Twitter explained that to me - and based on my experience he was right.

by contrast Fiber One Chewy Bars are made with real oats …

arent oats considered shittier food now?

well oats are a grain and grains are shit but at least oats are gluten free compared to other grains like wheat.

at home i mostly just eat meat, fish and eggs but those things need to be kept in the fridge at all times, and you need a plate to eat them.

what is great about bars like this is you can eat them on the go, and all the other bars i tried are WORSE.

it’s still a grain and still a processed food so you wouldn’t want to eat like this on regular basis.

OK so i have discovered a fatal flaw with this product - GAS

i been munching these since yesterday and got crazy gas ( flatulence )

ok i was actually munching these:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F9BJ100?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

which aren’t really portable because they are so fluffy they fall apart in your hands … but they are great at home with the protein shake …

anyway, the last time i had gas this bad was when i used to put bananas into my protein shakes - Bananas of course are also loaded with fiber, so are beans …

after those Banana Shakes i would have to constantly interrupt my workouts to go outside the gym and fart - in freezing weather … those were also the days of my 10 to 20 hour workouts …

fiber gives you gas …

well at least that means Fiber one has ACTUAL fiber in it, as compared to Quest which claims to have fiber but, as Galen explained, the Fiber quest uses is just sugar by another name …

indeed Quest feels like sugar - it dissolves in your mouth, doesn’t fill you AT ALL but also doesn’t give you gas …

and Fiber One feels like fiber - you feel FULL after eating it … but then then you get gas …

choose your poison … frankly this gas isn’t such a huge Issue if you’re spending the day in the car or if you’re not sharing your hotel room with anybody … but consider that “transit time” ( the time it takes for food to exit your body from the other side - is 30 to 40 hours but can be considered normal up to 72 hours in men or even 100 hours in women …

which means you could eat the fiber on Monday and then get on a plane on Wednesday and have gas on the plane because of the fiber you had 2 days before …

that makes these Fiber One Bars pretty much useless for my trip …

but the silver lining is at least i won’t have to throw out all the pistachios and macadamias that i picked up before the Fiber One bars …

BUT THE MAIN TAKE HOME POINT HERE IS WHEN PLANNING TO TAKE FOOD ON A TRIP ORDER IT A MONTH IN ADVANCE AND TEST IT EXTENSIVELY ! ! !

you never know what hidden surprises there may be. granola bars were cutting my gums for example and flying all over the room. these Fiber One bars give you gas. and so on.

never assume - always test.

and give yourself enough time to find a different solution if the test result is negative.
