Costs 200K more than regular 12C all because it has a manual and auto transmissions so you can enjoy ripping it via manual when you want to and drive normal when stuck in traffic (or something). But regardless I do like this one for a fun fuckaround car when you have money to burn.

as i mentioned before SAVAGEGEESE is one of the very few Automotive Reviewers that i actually watch because he isn’t a retard like the rest of them - and i watched the full video and enjoyed it - but i would be willing to bet Ferrari at the very least paid for the travel expenses for this trip to Italy, because it did sound a bit like advertisement.
not as much of an advertisement though as when Lucid paid SAVAGEGEESE to promote the Sapphire when they weren’t even hiding the fact that they were being paid and the style of the video was different from their usual style at 1.5 hours long versus their usual 20 minutes:
the point being SAVAGEGEESE is not beyond taking money to glaze a car and this video reminded me a little bit of the Lucid video though not as extreme …
the other point that was mentioned but not spelled out in the video is that car has 8 physical gears but only the first 6 are accessible in the manual mode … which is fine because the last 2 gears are for highway fuel economy and not used in “spirited driving”
so the transmission is physically 8 gear DUAL clutch but through the manual interface you see a 6 gear SINGLE clutch transmission … but that’s also fine because the point of dual clutch is fast, smooth shifts but with this manual those are not the objectives - the objective is to have fun
this car is obviously just another one in the current trend which is basically a backlash against cars like Nissan GTR and Model S Plaid that were all performance and no feeling.
fake gears are nothing new of course. shitty CVT cars like Hyundai and Subaru have always faked gears but they weren’t faking a manual - they were faking a geared automatic.
then 2 years ago or so Doug DeMuro dropped this turd ( time stamped link )
where he described the fake engine and gears in the electric Ioniq 5N and said he “LOVED” the feature …
i was so disgusted i immediately unfollowed Doug but i have since re-followed because i realized something … at the time Doug already knew this was just one of the many fake manual cars that were in the development pipeline from likes of Porsche and Ferrari that would soon follow and he had to get on the right side of history so to speak no matter how retarded …
because let’s face it that’s how it works - somebody on top decides we will all believe in Global Warming or War on Terror or Covid or that “electric cars are the future” and people simply accept it because that’s literally all people are capable of - is accepting the decisions made for them.
and so when Doug learned that it has already been decided that fake manuals were the future he knew he had to praise the one in Ioniq 5N …
but the other trend here aside from fake manuals is the injection of real mechanical components that serve no function … like in the instrument cluster of the Tourbillon
this Ferrari is probably the least bad of all these “innovations” as the gears are real only the way in which they are shifted is partially fake … still we can make an analogy to “timepieces”
you can have a fully mechanical watch or fully digital but also you can have a watch with digital electronics and a mechanical watch face … in fact this type of watch that combines a quartz “movement” with analog style mechanical watch face is the most popular type of wrist watch because it’s cheap, reliable, accurate but doesn’t look like a calculator.
i don’t wear a watch of course and refuse to drive anything with fake gears but to each his own.
i do think of all the cars with fake transmissions this Ferrari is by far the least disgusting concept because they’re really just replacing paddle shifters with a stick shifter and a third pedal so the shifting is only partially fake …
the other analogy that comes to mind is paying a prostitute extra for “girlfriend experience” … except here you’re paying Ferrari extra for “manual experience” …
personally my philosophy is that we should adopt our minds to reality not try to adopt reality to our mental illness. i believe that design should reflect function and only function and we then have to learn to accept whatever form results from it. but i am alone in this.
everybody else believes function should be bent into whatever nonsense pleases their aesthetic sense even if it completely stops working like communism. instead of controlling their emotions people try to change reality until their feelings are happy.
or as other philosophers pointed out - everybody wants to change the world - nobody wants to change themselves.
that said i remember you used to have an Acura Legend with a manual … i never had a car with a manual ( thank G-d ! ) so i will never miss not having it. but if you miss the feeling maybe this tech will allow you to scratch that itch.
personally though i find all such “solutions” or “innovations” disgusting. because …
now ask yourself - is this system as simple as possible ? the answer is NO. it is complexity for no reason whatsoever.
on other hand Elon errs in the opposite direction - he makes things SIMPLER THAN POSSIBLE.
Elon removes parts that are necessary. Everybody else adds parts that are useless.
