do not expect to be able to get this baby anywhere near MSRP
dealers will be marking these up like crazy
and by the way this ZR1 doesn’t even have E-Ray’s electric front axle so with that swap it would have 1,200 hp AWD if they were to ever release such a model.
how did Chevy do this ? simple. PISTON AREA.
as i been saying it isn’t hard to make a fast car - certainly not if you’re willing to sacrifice practicality and fuel economy. the reason most cars are slow is because people don’t actually need fast cars.
the average owner of a Subaru with 10 second 0-60 has never even pressed the gas pedal all the way
well the other reason is that it’s expensive to make fast cars fuel efficient … and government mandates fleet efficiency standards … which in practice means that outside of EVs only a small percentage of cars can be made fast and still keep the overall fleet fuel economy within government standards …
both EVs and PHEVs are expensive and with ICE you have to choose economy or performance, and the way government standards are vast majority will have to choose economy whether they like it or not.
because Corvette is a relatively low volume vehicle though Chevy can use regular ICE and make if really fast without destroying overall fleet fuel economy average.
of course idiot car reviewers will say that this is brilliant engineering blah blah blah - LOL - as if they would know anything about engineering - but they sure love to yap about it.
it’s not hard to make a car like ZR1 but you have to PRETEND that it is hard because otherwise you will not be able to charge $$$ for it and also you will blow by CAFE economy standards.
the job of car reviewers is basically lie on behalf of automakers that fly them out to the race tracks to test these cars. they literally put special brochures made just for automotive journalists in the cars that teach them how to “explain” these cars.
this is why all the reviews are the same - they just repeat what those brochures say.
