Corvette ZR1 revealed with over 1,000 hp

https://www.edmunds.com/car-news/2025-chevy-corvette-zr1-debut-first-look.html

do not expect to be able to get this baby anywhere near MSRP

dealers will be marking these up like crazy

and by the way this ZR1 doesn’t even have E-Ray’s electric front axle so with that swap it would have 1,200 hp AWD if they were to ever release such a model.

how did Chevy do this ? simple. PISTON AREA.

as i been saying it isn’t hard to make a fast car - certainly not if you’re willing to sacrifice practicality and fuel economy. the reason most cars are slow is because people don’t actually need fast cars.

the average owner of a Subaru with 10 second 0-60 has never even pressed the gas pedal all the way

well the other reason is that it’s expensive to make fast cars fuel efficient … and government mandates fleet efficiency standards … which in practice means that outside of EVs only a small percentage of cars can be made fast and still keep the overall fleet fuel economy within government standards …

both EVs and PHEVs are expensive and with ICE you have to choose economy or performance, and the way government standards are vast majority will have to choose economy whether they like it or not.

because Corvette is a relatively low volume vehicle though Chevy can use regular ICE and make if really fast without destroying overall fleet fuel economy average.

of course idiot car reviewers will say that this is brilliant engineering blah blah blah - LOL - as if they would know anything about engineering - but they sure love to yap about it.

it’s not hard to make a car like ZR1 but you have to PRETEND that it is hard because otherwise you will not be able to charge $$$ for it and also you will blow by CAFE economy standards.

the job of car reviewers is basically lie on behalf of automakers that fly them out to the race tracks to test these cars. they literally put special brochures made just for automotive journalists in the cars that teach them how to “explain” these cars.

this is why all the reviews are the same - they just repeat what those brochures say.

honesty this is a stupid car.

i used to have a 360 hp ( naturally aspirated V8 ) RWD car and even that was a struggle to get off the line because the tires would slip, traction control would kick in etc …

then last year i test drove an E-Tron GT which is an AWD car with about 600 hp out of which about 400 go to the rear wheels and when we had traction and stability accidentally disabled it went sideways like it was on ice …

with 1,000+ hp RWD you won’t be able to use the power of that ZR1 until you’re like at 80 mph at which point you should be braking already …

sure it would be fast and fun on the track but why do you need to own a car to take to the track a few times a year ? they rent supercars on the track.

you need a daily driver. you can rent for any special occasions. this ZR1 will be pretty stupid as a daily driver as you will be paying for performance you can’t use.

cars like this are rare not because ( as auto journalists will tell you ) its a feat of engineering, but because it’s stupid and engineers and executives aren’t as dumb as auto journalists or 12 year old boys who get excited by cars like this.

believe me there is more engineering that goes into a $20 Chinese phone than goes into this $200,000 Corvette. the reason Automotive Journalists can’t understand that is because they never had to study nanotechnology, quantum mechanics, signal processing or wireless technology. i have.

because i have i know that my 140 IQ is not enough for quantum mechanics for example but i don’t even need half my brain to design cars better than this Corvette.

car tech is relatively very simple - even in the most advanced cars like my Volvo. of course the Automotive Journalist has subhuman level of intelligence so to him this stuff is advanced. Automotive Journalists have intelligence barely above the level of 12 year olds who watch their videos. also these subhumans are instructed to keep repeating the word “engineering” because it gives their 12 year old viewers a boner every time. it’s literally like the girls in porn always say " OMG oh shit oh fuck ! " because it’s the line they all have to repeat.

that said, Chevy didn’t have to make something this outrageous but they did, and that’s pretty based of them.

that is the most impressive thing about this ZR1 is how absurd it is, not any kind of “engineering”

it is “based” in the same way as memes about Trannies hanging themselves are “based” - which goes to show that intelligence of a boomer ( and Corvette is a car for Boomers ) is the same as that of a 12 year old.

when i say car tech is simple i mean it is simple to increase power.

it is hard to make a car efficient, reliable, clean running etc.

it is also hard to make a race car faster because almost everything that makes a car faster is against the rules in something like Formula 1.

but to make a regular car not subject to any kind of FIA regulations faster ? TRIVIAL.

you literally just need a big engine and big turbos. that’s it ! no “engineering” is involved.

but you can’t sell a story like that. you can’t sell " we could have done this anytime we wanted and so could anybody else but nobody actually needs this so we didn’t until now, but then we got bored and now you have this LOL "

i recently posted a thread about dealers explaining the psychology of why wagons are sold in Europe but not USA … it’s all about marketing. almost everything in car industry is about marketing and psychology. “engineering” is nothing more than a buzz word in this context.

remember how everything used to be marketed as “digital” when “digital” was cool ? completely analog things were all labeled as “digital” ( if sold by Chinese ) or “for digital” if sold by Americans.

then “Digital” was replaced with “HD” even for things that had nothing to do with video, then “4K” and so on …

understand that when Auto Journalists talk about “Engineering” it’s the same as how when Chinese sell you sneakers that say “Digital 4K” written on them. it is nothing more than retarded babbling.
